Count Anckarbjelke (Joachim Wigelius) and Baroness Edlerspjut (Marjorita Huldén) are back to dish out philosophy and music at their picnic: The thoughts of David Hume, Adam Smith and Anders Chydenius concerning proper economic management of the nation (selected by Kari Saastamoinen, Professor of the History of Ideas at University of Helsinki and Sixten Korkman, Managing Director of the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy), begging letters from composers (selected by composer Pasi Lyytikäinen) and music, including extracts from Pepusch’s Beggar’s Opera and Händel’s Julius Caesar. Soloists with the international Les Lumières orchestra are sopranos Anu Komsi and Päivi Kantola, mezzosoprano Ann-Marie Heino, sopranista Teppo Lampela, tenor Charles Barbier and baritone Sören Lillkung.

An evening hosted by Count Anckarbjelke includes poetry by Alexander Pope and Jonathon Swift, Voltaire’s letters from England and music by the following composers: Thomas Arne, Charles Avison, Franceso Barsanti, Francesco Geminiani ja Willem de Fesch, Christoffer, Pieter Hellendaal, Simpson,Gotffried Finger.
Other performers include sopranos Philippa Hyde and Päivi Kantola, Rachel Latham, transverse flute, Marja Rumpunen, fortepiano, Elina Mustonen, harpsichord, Markus Kuikka, viola da gamba, Peter Collyer and Torsten Tiebout viola, Kari Vaattovaara, teorbi, Mark Caudle and Lea Pekkala, cello, Eberhard Maldfeld, contrabass, along with minuets and English countryside dances under the direction of dance master de Mont Walnut.
